You are looking at a 20,529 mile (now) ALL ORIGINAL 1982 Corvette! We purchased it five (5) years ago Christmas with the ORIGINAL GT EAGLE RADIALS with lots of tread left. However in the interest of ensuring no accidents (tire blow outs & possible wreck), we replaced with all new MICHELINS in 2005. The ORIGINAL EAGLE GTs are being safely stored in a dark bag.

The car still has some of that NEW CAR smell. At the same time, we had our Corvette guy to go through & replace ALL wires and hoses with DELCO ORIGINAL PARTS, and had steel caliper brakes put on.

This car has been BABIED from 18,000 to 20,000 miles (being a mother of three). I ran it through carfax prior to purchasing her. She's MINT, and really DESERVES to be SEEN!!

I thought my AUTO PARTS guy was going to fall over the summer before last as he came out to the parking lot to advise me on WHICH PRODUCT I should use. "Oh my God. This is the ORIGINAL paint!!!" "Yes sir, it is." I replied with a smile. No CLEANING wax touched this baby. He recommended "ICE WAX". Doesn't she look beautiful?!!

The speedomter reads 19,904 in this photo (taken JULY 2007). The INTERIOR appears CANDY APPLE RED in the photo, but is NOT. It was just A REALLY SUNNY NORTHERN OHIO DAY. The interior is RED.

I took my best friend, Adriane TOMAZIN, for a drive and we TURNED her speedometer over the 20,000 mile mark, together in APR 2008).

Returned Safely from New Jersey tonite, but much to my surprise.....

My happiness came from deep within,
And not by the car that I was driving.....

As my family & friends are aware, my 1982 Corvette was stolen, uninsured, back on March 4, 1987 (shortly before I starting dating Eric). Despite the theft, Eric aided me in making the balance of payments due on the loan. For years, I felt an emptiness (that SOMEONE had TAKEN something from me). I kept my eyes peeled when out & on the Internet, but no sign of my stolen 1982 Corvette.

Collectors - Some people collect ponies, dolls, ancestors, etc.....A Secret - I've also been collecting 1982 Corvettes (with their VIN #s) for these past 3 years. I can read a 1982 Corvette VIN# & tell you what each of the first 11 numbers stand for (of the 16 digits). I've also found vettes for sale ONLINE that do NOT properly match their VIN #s too! (yes, you can readily suspect that they're some of the stolen Corvettes).

Anyhow, a few weeks back, I spotted a "sister" (IDENTICAL) to my stolen car on E-Bay (However, as memory serves, I was sure it was NOT the one & the same as my Corvette had upper 20K miles on it. However, the aspect of purchasing an identical 1982 Corvette (21 years old) with a mere 18K miles on it was MORE THAN appealing.....My stepbrother, Rodney, who lives nearby (in New Jersey) was kind enough to check out the car for me......Rod dialed me with a THUMBS UP! So I successfully negotiated via phone & bought the Corvette. Feeling guilty (as I had not discussed with my husband), I told Eric about it a week or so later. I, however, had NOT paid for the car UNTIL I, however, got Eric's "OK". Anyhow.....

Due to good weather this weekend, Eric suggested we take a drive to pick up the car. However, we learned that the 1982 Corvette front ends are so low to the ground that we couldn't "RENTAL" trailer it. So we decided to take turns driving it back from New Jersey (Eric & I). My brother, Steve, was kind enough to lend me the license plates from "his toy". My neice, Maranda, was sweet enough to come over & stay with my girls ALL DAY! It's been a family effort.

However, low, & behold, I quickly learned that I my recollections of "my 1982 Corvette" were somewhat rose-colored.

In the nearly eight (8) hour trip back to Ohio I, willingly, drove the car two (2) hours. Eric drove it the balance of our return trip. In a nutshell - It scared me to death on the interstate!!! It's so low to the ground. From the ground up, It's barely over 1/2 the height of my Expediton. The steering wheel is probably 1/2 the diameter of my Expedition. The side view mirrors are so small (again, probably 1/3 the size of my Expedition mirrors), I could barely see the cars coming up on me. I was white-knuckling the steering wheel & taking periodic DEEP breaths telling myself to "Relax!",...but couldn't. I found myself swearing when I had to play leap frog with a trio of Semi's, and then a quick prayer saying I was so sorry, please forgive me for my words!

My happiness came from down deep within
And not by the car that I was driving.....

Despite the fact that I confided to Eric (ENROUTE to NJ) today that I had "Buyer's remorse" after buying the vette (a few weeks back), Eric said nothing. I, however, informed him 3/4 of the way back - return trip, that "this purchase" HAS been GOOD for me therapeutically (I think I would have continued to feel that "emptiness" from having someone steal something from me in which I worked endless hours to purchase). For two years I saved working two jobs to get that $20,000 - 5 hours of sleep was a once or twice a week thing - and an, oh so looked forward to, luxury.

Eric reigned "my hero" today, because he gave me the "OK" to purchase the car (recognizing how much it meant to me - or so I thought). Eric also took over the majority of driving today, without complaint. He's been awesome. So as you can see why.....

My happiness stemmed from the kind man I married,
And not by the car that I was driving.....

Oh by the way - My HERO, who didn't like the 1982 Corvettes before.....LOVES THE NEW (old) CAR!!!???!!! Life is good.
